Programming Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET

About the Author -- Rick Dobson, Ph.D.

Rick Dobson, Ph.D., is an author and trainer specializing in Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, and Web technologies. He is a big fan of programmatic solutions, particularly those that involve Visual Basic .NET, ADO.NET, ASP.NET, XML Web services, and T-SQL—technologies he features prominently in this book. If you look at some of his prior books, you’ll discover that he also programs in VBA, ADO, Jet SQL, and SQL-DMO.

This is Rick's fourth book in four years. Both this book and a former one titled Professional SQL Server Development with Access 2000 (Wrox Press Inc., 2000) focus heavily on the development of SQL Server solutions. While his other two books are on Microsoft Access, they demonstrate his commitment to Microsoft database technology. All of these books include extensive coverage of Web technologies as they relate to database development topics.

Rick and his wife Virginia jointly run their practice, CAB, Inc. (http:// www.cabinc.net). Rick aims his content production at intermediate and advanced SQL Server, Access, and Web developers. Rick also writes for leading computer resources, such as SQL Server Magazine, MSDN Online Library, Microsoft TechNet, Visual Basic Programmer’s Journal, and Microsoft Interac-tive Developer. Virginia targets Access power users and beginning developers. She has contributed articles to http://www.smartcomputing.com, http:// www.techrepublic.com, and Microsoft OfficePro.
