Programming Microsoft Office Access 2003

About the Author -- Rick Dobson, Ph.D.

Rick Dobson, Ph.D., is an author and trainer specializing in Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, and Web technologies. He is a big fan of programmatic solutions, particularly those that involve VBA, Visual Basic .NET, ADO, ADO.NET, Jet SQL, T-SQL, or SQL-DMO.

Rick is the author of six other books and DVDs on Access and SQL Server. This book thoroughly covers the traditional basics, such as creating tables, queries, forms, reports, and user-level security.  The book also examines Access interoperability with other Office components, namely Excel, Outlook, Word, as well as Microsoft Office Objects.  Besides that, the book fully examines ADO as well as how to build SQL Server solutions. You'll also find coverage of other useful topics, such as Office Web Components, Data Access Pages, PivotTables, and PivotCharts.

Rick and his wife, Virginia, jointly run their practice, CAB, Inc.  Microsoft appointed Rick an Access hero to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Access.  Rick aims his content production at intermediate and advanced Access, SQL Server, and Visual Basic developers. Rick also writes for leading computer resources, such as Smart Access, HardCore Visual BasicSQL Server Magazine, and MSDN (www.msdn.microsoft.com). Virginia targets Access power users and beginning developers. She contributed articles to www.smartcomputing.com and Microsoft OfficePro.

CAB sponsors www.programmingmsaccess.com and its developer seminars. This Web site features code samples, live demonstrations, tutorials, FAQs, and links to online resources for Access and SQL Server developers. CAB sponsored the Access and SQL Server Development Seminar that was presented  eleven times during 2002-2003 at both hotel and webcast venues. Earlier tours attracted a broad range of database developers and administrators from large and mid-sized organizations, such as Ford, EDS at GM, Prudential, the U.S. Navy, and Panasonic. You can get in touch with Rick at rickd@cabinc.net.
