Hi FullName,

This message is your first October message from ProgrammingMSAccess.com.  Because its our first message of the quarter, we have lots of great news about prizes and other special opportunities available throughout the quarter. We start by highlighting our extensive collection of book and DVD content for Access and SQL Server developers using either VBA or VB.NET.  Next, we remind you about the fresh collection of prize opportunities that we offer during the October-December quarter.  We also mention a “thank you” campaign for those who sign our Guest Book.  Finally, there’s the normal reminder about fresh filters for our SPAM Blocker product.

BOOKS & DVDs

It is probably worth pointing out that your webmaster is an author.  He has authored 6 books on Microsoft databases, VBA and VB.NET.  In addition, he authored three DVDs that provide video training on .NET and T-SQL programming.  You can additionally find his content in numerous computer periodicals, such as SQL Server Magazine, Visual Studio .NET Developer, and Smart Access.  Finally, he regularly prepares new content and adapts existing content for his seminar presentation series.  Eventually, refreshed seminar content finds its way into his books, DVDs, and articles.

The ProgrammingMSAccess.com site features a healthy dose of content from the myriad outlets that its webmaster uses.  You can find much of this excerpted content in the site’s Books & DVDs section by Webmaster section.  All books and DVD content includes table of contents and chapter/lesson summaries.  Selected sources have one or more excerpts.  We just added the slide deck for one of our seminar lessons on Access forms and reports.  The samples in the slide deck are available as part of the proprietary library available to our Database Developers Group (DDG) members.

THANK YOU CAMPAIGN

ProgrammingMSAccess.com exists to serve a community of Access, SQL Server, VBA, and VB.NET developers.  We offer our best content and prizes to encourage you to visit often.  All content at this site is free!  In addition, we have a tradition of offering the chance to win prizes for nothing more than signing our Guest Book.

However, we can afford to award prizes to just a very small fraction of those who sign our Guest Book.  During this quarter, we are offering a special “thank you” program for a larger group of site visitors.  The first thirty Guest Book registrants each month can receive a 15% off discount from DV Press.  This publisher has a growing library of high quality computer learning aids.  For example, your webmaster authored three DVDs, which his most recent one on T-SQL just released.  DV Press also features content from other computer authors.  If you are looking for a way to save on fun, educational computer content, one of these coupons could be just what you need.

Because DDG have their privileges, we are offering the 15% off coupons to any new or renewing DDG member during the quarter – no matter when they sign the Guest Book.

SPAM BLOCKER UPDATE

We just posted a fresh set of filters for SPAM Blocker, our solution to filtering spam.  SPAM Blocker from ProgrammingMSAccess.com is a VBA program that runs in back of Outlook 2000/2002/2003.  The most recent round of filters is the fourteenth issued for SPAM Blocker 2.0 since its initial release in March 2004.

SPAM Blocker features an empirically based approach to filtering spam.  Our experience confirms that if you develop a large set of carefully developed filters, you can block spam messages besides those for which you initially developed the filters.  Unfortunately, we also learned that new spam messages can bypass filters for previous spam messages.  Therefore, we regularly refresh our filters at the pace of about twice per month.

Any purchaser of our Standard edition gets our best set of filters at the time of purchase.  Anyone who purchases an Upgraded edition of SPAM Blocker can download fresh filters over the life of their license for one, two, or three years.  At the end of the license, an Upgraded edition owner can renew their license or use SPAM Blocker like any Standard edition purchaser.
