Hi FullName,
This is your message for news and opportunities from ProgrammingMSAccess.com during March 2005. The main goal of this message is to bring you up to date about what’s happening at the ProgrammingMSAccess.com site. As you may know, the site offers hundreds of pages for you to view.
· This message starts by reviewing an interesting metric to tell you what site visitors believe are the most important or popular pages at the site.
· Next, we bring you up to data about prize opportunities at our site. When it is the last month of a quarter, there are frequently two types of prizes for you to win. You’ll learn about both types in this message.
· We also pass along an update on SPAM Blocker. This is my personal solution for blocking spam. If you like the other content at the site, there’s a good chance that you’ll like our VBA-based solution to blocking spam.
· Finally, this message alerts you to deep discounts for my two VB.NET DVD sets. If you program solutions with Microsoft technology, chances are you will eventually be using .NET. These DVDs can give you the background that you need to approach this task efficiently and effectively.
Most Popular Pages
at ProgrammingMSAccess.com
There are several metrics to measure the popularity of a page. In this message, we report popularity based on which pages are viewed the longest. The longer visitors view a page, the more attractive the page’s content is to site visitors. The ten pages viewed the longest at the site since the beginning of the year cover traditional Access and SQL Server topics as well as site resources, including our FAQs and product reviews.
One set of very popular pages were excerpts from my “Programming
Microsoft Access 2000” book. These
excerpts give you the background that you need to program data access with
Several pages identified resources for those interested in creating solutions for SQL Server. These pages included an excerpt from my “Programming Microsoft Access Version 2002” book that gets you started using Access projects to create SQL Server solutions. The SQL Server content also included a set of hyperlinks to some of my prior articles for SQL Server Magazine. SQL Server Magazine has very high editorial standards, and you will find some my best development ideas explained clearly in the articles at which these links point.
Other pages that attracted substantial visitor interest include the summary of our FAQs and pages in our product reviews section.

Prizes for Site
Visitors and DDG Members
As we enter the last month of a quarter, ProgrammingMSAccess.com frequently has prizes to give way. There are usually two ways to win prizes. First, you can just sign our Guest Book once during the quarter to become eligible to win one or more prizes. Please feel free to tell your friends and colleagues about the prizes. You might gain their favor in the future if they win. In any event, they will know that you cared enough to tell them about the prize opportunities. Second, members of our Database Developers Group (DDG) can win even more valuable prizes. This is in keeping with our commitment that membership (in the DDG) has its privileges.
Yes Software has donated another copy of DemoCharge 2004. I have personally used this product, and I can testify that it is an easy to use program for capturing a series of screens that users can replay in a browser as an animated .gif file. If you ever wanted to show someone how to perform a task on a computer, this could be just what you need. ProgrammingMSAccess.com is also offering two copies of its webmaster’s most recent DVD. I had a lot of fun doing this DVD on T-SQL programming. If you want to get started with T-SQL or you want to remind yourself about T-SQL basics, this DVD can serve your needs well. You can gain eligibility to win any of these three prizes just by signing our Guest Book between now and the end of March.
Any DDG member can win the above prizes without signing the Guest Book. This privilege of being eligible to win prizes is a small part of what we mean by “membership has its privileges.” In addition, DDG members as of March 31 are also eligible to win one of four additional prizes. One prize is another copy of DemoCharge 2004 from Yes Software. A second prize is a copy of the Enterprise Edition of Tier Developer from AlachiSoft. The last two prizes are two additional copies of my most recent DVD on T-SQL programming. If you want a chance to win one of these great prizes, just join the DDG by March 31. Whether or not you win a prize, you are bound to be a winner because of all the great privileges that DDG members receive.

SPAM Blocker Has Fresh
Filters
SPAM Blocker is our solution to filtering spam and other sorts of unsolicited mail, such as dangerous phising scam messages. We have been refining this solution for about two years. Our solution works for Outlook 2000/2002/2003. If you use one of these three Outlook versions, chances are that our spam blocker can reduce the amount of spam that you have to delete while you are looking for your legitimate email. We have been refining this application for over two years. If you are a VB/VBA programmer, you may also learn some tricks about string processing. This is because SPAM Blocker is a VBA application that runs in back of Outlook. It uses sophisticated filtering techniques to identify spam. However, even with our advanced techniques, we find it necessary to regularly update our filters.
We just updated our filters on March 15. If you have an active license for one of our Upgraded Editions of SPAM Blocker, you are invited to download SPAM Blocker to get the most recent filter values. All you have to do is copy over the former ThisOutlookSession module. You can continue to download fresh filter values over the life of your Upgraded Edition license.
